Anonymous: There was a formatted partition which I needed to recover files from. Normally testdisk can recover the entire partition but there were no backup cylinders or whatever the terminology is so I had to use another tool which can only restore the files but not the directory structure / filenames. It's a bit of a pain. So I need to test all the .mp3 files one by one to see if it's what I was looking for. But it gave an error because I was still in the recovery system live USB and there is no audio output configured.

Replying here because replies to top-level comments don't show up in the overview page and there is no bump system either. I think my comment will get overlooked otherwise so this actually works out.

I'm not sure what random process caused it but a sad emoticon appeared in the bottom right corner of my screen
