You'll get even smaller files. I've been replacing my media library with AV1 when I see titles available.
Still nice though. I used to have a script to automatically download all videos from a few youtube channels. Would have been useful to combine it with this.

idk, I remember difficulty playing av1 files on "older" hardware.
